Born in Kyoto, Japan, Hisateru Ohsho is a versatile and internationally experienced cinematographer, photographer, and visual director, known for capturing iconic portraits and powerful visual narratives. With a career that bridges editorial, advertising, film, and documentary work, her style combines refined composition with emotional authenticity.

She has worked extensively with top Japanese publications such as IN ROCK and MOVIE STAR, photographing visiting Hollywood actors, international celebrities, and key figures across industries. In addition to editorial and commercial photography, she has directed and shot visual campaigns for film, television, advertising, and branded content.

A passionate documentarian, Hisateru has developed a body of long-term photo documentary projects exploring human stories around the world. Her work has been featured in numerous international exhibitions, reflecting a deep commitment to storytelling through still and moving images.

In 2016, she planned, photographed, produced, and published #PASSPORT BOOK Vol.1 IN CUBA, a personal visual journal capturing life and culture in Cuba. She later joined TAKAMI HOLDINGS Inc. as a lead photographer and director, working across wedding, jewelry, culinary, and promotional visuals.

As of April 2024, Hisateru is active as a freelance visual creator, available for international film productions, portrait assignments, and creative collaborations.

In addition to her visual career, she is a former Miss Universe Japan 2002 finalist, with past work as an actress and model, appearing in stage productions, commercials, and the Italian film Tarda Estate (Venice International Film Festival selection). She also teaches walking, posing, and photography workshops, bringing a holistic understanding of image-making from both behind and in front of the camera.
